Omaha Hi Lo: General Summary

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is frequently seen as one of the most difficult but popular poker variations. It is a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites play from all levels of players. This is the main reason why a once irrelevant variation, has expanded in popularity so rapidly.
Omaha 8 or better begins just like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are given out to each player. A round of betting ensues in which players can bet, check, or drop out. 3 cards are handed out, this is known as the flop. Another sequence of betting ensues. Once all the gamblers have either called or dropped out, another card is flipped on the turn. Another sequence of betting ensues at which point the river card is revealed. The entrants must attempt to make the strongest high and low 5 card hands using the board and hole cards.
This is the point where a few players get baffled. Contrasted to Texas Holdem, where the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi-low the player must utilize exactly three cards on the board, and exactly 2 cards from their hand. No more, not a single card less. Contrary to normal Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot may be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."
A high hand is exactly what it sounds like. It’s the best hand out of everyone’s, it doesn’t matter if it is a straight, flush, full house. It is the identical concept in nearly all poker games.
A low hand is more difficult, but certainly free’s up the play. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that might be put together, with the lowest value being A-2-3-4-5. Considering that straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest value hand possible. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an eight and below. The low hand takes half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there is no low hand presented, the high hand takes the complete pot.
Although it seems complicated initially, following a couple of hands you will be agile enough to get the fundamental subtleties of the game simply enough. Since you have players wagering for the low and wagering for the high, and since such a large number of cards are in play, Omaha 8 or better offers an overwhelming range of wagering choices and because you have many players battling for the high hand, as well as many trying for the low hand. If you prefer a game with a considerable amount of outs and actions, it’s not a waste of your time to compete in Omaha/8.
