Omaha Hi Lo: General Summary

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is commonly viewed as one of the most complex but popular poker games. It is a variation that, even more than regular Omaha poker, invites action from every level of players. This is the main reason why a once invisible variation, has increased in acceptance so rapidly.
Omaha hi/low begins like a regular game of Omaha. 4 cards are handed out to each player. A sequence of betting follows in which players can wager, check, or fold. 3 cards are given out, this is called the flop. A further round of betting ensues. After all the players have either called or dropped out, another card is revealed on the turn. a further round of betting ensues at which point the river card is revealed. The gamblers will need to put together the strongest high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.
This is where a number of entrants can get baffled. Unlike Texas Hold ‘Em, in which the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha hi lo the player has to utilize precisely 3 cards from the board, and precisely two cards from their hand. Not a single card more, not a single card less. Unlike normal Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot might be won: the "high hand" or the "lower hand."
A high hand is exactly what it sounds like. It is the strongest possible hand out of everyone’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house. It’s the very same notion in just about every poker game.
The low hand is more complicated, but really opens up the play. When determining a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the worst hand that can be made, with the lowest being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Seeing as straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The lower hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and smaller. The low hand wins half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there is no lower hand available, the higher hand takes the entire pot.
It may seem difficult at the outset, after a couple of rounds you will be agile enough to get the fundamental subtleties of play with ease.
