Omaha Hi-Low: Fundamental Summary

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is frequently seen as one of the most difficult but popular poker variations. It’s a variation that, even more than regular Omaha poker, invites action from every level of players. This is the primary reason why a once irrelevant game, has increased in acceptance so amazingly.
Omaha/8 starts like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are dealt to every player. A sequence of betting follows where gamblers can bet, check, or drop out. 3 cards are handed out, this is called the flop. One more sequence of wagering happens. After all the gamblers have in turn called or dropped out, a further card is revealed on the turn. a further round of betting happens at which point the river card is flipped. The entrants will need to put together the best high and low 5 card hands based on the board and hole cards.
This is the point where some entrants get baffled. Unlike Holdem, where the board can be everyone’s hand, in Omaha Hi-Lo the player must use exactly 3 cards from the board, and exactly two hole cards. Not a single card more, not a single card less. Unlike normal Omaha, there are two ways a pot can be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."
A high hand is just what it sounds like. It is the best possible hand out of everyone’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house. It is the same notion in just about every poker game.
The lower hand is more complicated, but really opens up the action. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. A low hand is the worst hand that might be made, with the worst being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Because straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the smallest value hand possible. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an eight and lower. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there is no low hand presented, the high hand takes the entire pot.
Although it seems complex initially, following a couple of rounds you will be agile enough to pick up on the basic nuances of play with ease. Seeing as you have players betting for the low and betting for the high, and since so many cards are being used at once, Omaha/8 offers an exciting collection of wagering choices and because you have numerous individuals trying for the high, along with many shooting for the low. If you love a game with a plethora of outs and actions, it is not a waste of your time to compete in Omaha 8 or better.
